“Booktropolis,” created in 2023 by Christian, this 30-inch tall and 24-inch wide painting, rendered with acrylic and chalk paint on canvas, masterfully employs perspective drawing techniques to craft a window-like view into an imagined cityscape. The artist's use of canvas tape generates precise, hard edges, accentuating the geometric forms reminiscent of stacked books. A melancholic palette of blues, greens, and yellows soothes the dynamic composition, while Titan Buff evokes the appearance of aged book pages, adding a nostalgic contrast to the modern, architectural style typical of Christian's work. These formal elements—line, color, and space—harmonize to evoke a contemplative atmosphere, reflecting the intellectual and emotional journeys elicited by literature, and transforming the power of books into a visually expansive and introspective experience.
